2 adults, 1 child airlifted from Robert Drive fire
Two adults and a child were airlifted to hospitals after suffering injuries in a July 6 fire on Robert Drive in St. Bernard Parish.
St. Bernard Fire Chief Thomas Stone said units arrived at the 1900 block of Robert Drive within three minutes of receiving the emergency call shortly after 10 p.m. They found a shed that had been converted to an apartment fully involved or inundated with flames and smoke.
A male and female adult suffered burns to their upper bodies and a 3-year-old child suffered smoke inhalation. The adults were airlifted from the scene to University Medical Center and the child was airlifted to Children’s Hospital. The victims’ exact condition is unknown but all three are expected to survive.
