Teams Compete in Third Annual Cook-Off for the Coast to Raise Awareness, Funds for Coastal Restoration

Restore the Mississippi River Delta, in partnership with Vanishing Paradise, Meraux Foundation, St. Bernard Parish Tourist Commission and the St. Bernard Parish Coastal Department presented the third annual Cook-Off for the Coast at the Meraux Foundation’s Docville Farm on Saturday, Feb. 8. The family-friendly event featured a culinary competition highlighting wild game from Louisiana’s coastal wet-lands, while raising funds for the Chandeleur Sound Living e Shoreline Program, a local res- project that will con- -toration y struct oyster reef breakwaters o in St. Bernard Parish. Thirteen r-cook teams competed in the d. following categories — Water ll (fish, shellfish, reptiles, etc.), Air (duck, etc.), Land (game, r-deer, wild boar, etc.), Crowd s Favorite and Student Cook-Off c Team. -

FLAGS LAID TO REST

BSA Troop 11, with the help of Cub Scout Pack 11, held a flag retirement ceremony at United Methodist Church on Paris Road on Feb. 9. The troop retired more than 40 worn and tattered flags. Pictured is Daniel Marchiafava removes the strips from the flag for burning. More photos on page 2.
