Calling It Home
Rod Knockers “Cruzin Da Parish” began its cruise Saturday morning at the Ford Motor Plant in Arabi. It was an appropriate starting point considering how in the early 1900’s Ford Motor cars, Model T’s were assembled there, thousands and thousands. The cruise proceeded through the Parish traveling to Ycloskey, Delacroix, Docville Farm, and finishing at the Palms. The ride had almost 250 cars and they were antiques, vintage, hot rods, pickups, muscle cars, and modern sports cars. It was truly an adventure into the world of four wheels and their owners.
The real bottom line to this adventure of motor cars was a true human need. The Rod Knockers event benefits the St. Bernard Autism Awareness Krewe in their mission. Using the passion for cars gets turned inside out to help those afflicted with autism with the proceeds of the cruise. This is a real act of kindness that reflects the warmth of heart for those who worked so hard to make the cruise a success. The 250 participants with their vehicles had a great time and had the best opportunity to show off their well cared for show pieces. I hope next year the Cruzin Da Parish tops 300 plus cruisers. If you do not have a show car come and see the vehicles next year and bring some friends. Rod Knockers, you did a super job getting the ride together, bringing new people to the Parish, and keeping that glow of compassion in people’s hearts for those with autism.
