Donald Raymond "Don Juan" Burkhardt Sr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 6, 1945, and died February 19, 2014 at 3:35 a.m. He resided in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. Donald Sr. went to
McDonough School and Chalmette High School. He received his degree from LSU, and was in the military as a Marine in the reserve unit. He worked at Murphy as a Lab Technician for over 40 years and was very dedicated. Donald Sr. loved to ride his Harley Davidson bike on the open road. It was his savior. That's where he felt the safest. He enjoyed riding with other biker friends, hanging out and having a good time. He loved playing the saxophone, which he played all throughout his school years in "The Dixie Landing Jazz Band." He is survived by children: Troy Ramon, Candy B. Falgout, Natasha Morgan, Donald Burkhardt Jr., and Annie Jo B. Vitrano. Preceded in death by parents: Mildred Forest and Ernest Burkhardt, Brother Ronald Burkhardt, and daughter Brandi Burkhardt. Donald Sr. was a man with many friends surrounding him. Best friends Robert "Bobby" Lambert and Gene Menesses. A memorial service is scheduled for April 12, 2014, 3 p.m. at Katz Lounge, 3004 Paris Road, Chalmette.
