A wonderful surprise was had Saturday evening in Arabi. I noticed tables being set up in the new Arabi Arts Park as I was traveling the parish to observe the political opening day of early voting. The Meraux Foundation sponsored the construction of the Arts Park to further enhance the Arabi Arts District. The special event was the 2023 Gala of the League of Angels. Their mission is to help provide recreational sports opportunities for the disabled. The setting was well decorated, delicious yum-yum good food was provided by Crave Catering, cool refreshments quenched any thirst, and Cypress Pop Band filled the air with some get you moving tunes. Mother Nature blessed the event with just the right weather. Tables lined one side of the Arts Park with silent auction items. It was a first-class event and a serious thanks for the volunteers. St. Bernard can truly be proud of the many community groups who help to support the philanthropic programs that help to make life better for individuals and families. May be this is a good reason the Almighty blessed the League of Angels with weather truly from heaven above. Many of the attends were connected with the Sheriff’s office, the DA office, the Clerk of Court office, and Parish Government. A star-studded line up showed up via television on a really big screen, the LSU Football team and they tried hard playing the game. So many of the guests commented on how nice the new Arts Park is and hoped for future events in the new venue. Check the League of Angels website for future activities. Please remember, it is this kindness of heart with the many community groups in St. Bernard that show the real love in the Parish.
