PROCLAMATION NO. 01 JML 2024 reads: By virtue of the authority vested in me by Louisiana Constitution Article III, Section 2(B), I, Jeff Landry, Governor of the State of Louisiana, hereby call and convene the legislature of Louisiana into extraordinary session to convene at the State Capital in the city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana during eight calendar days beginning at 4:00 o’clock p.m. on the 15th day of January 2024, and ending no later than 6:00 o’clock p.m. on the 23rd day of January 2024. The power to legislate at this session shall be limited, under penalty of nullity, to the consideration of the following enumerated objects.

Wrong for St. Bernard

Several weeks ago the New Orleans Advocate published an opinion piece that supported the LIT in St. Bernard. It needed a response. I composed this as a counterargument. I wish to thank _e Advocate for publishing mine as a Letter to the Editor, but in doing so they edited it substantially. Below is my original article.

A New Day, A New Way

We are at the beginning of a journey for the Parish of St. Bernard. Our new Parish government has been sworn in and the _rst council meeting was held. Parish President Louis Pomes will be our leader with a new and energized council to take us into the future. _is undertaking by the Parish government should not be without you as a citizen input. Yes, you can be part of shaping our destiny in St. Bernard. If you can envision in your mind the great ancient Greek rowing ships, you realize it takes everyone rowing in sync and with a steering master to accomplish their voyage. _e people of the community are essentially the rowers, and the parish government controls the speed and direction. We must be vigilant and observe the government and hold it to the standards of the residents. _e election is over, and we must act as a team for St. Bernard. Sadly, we all wish Washington, DC could act like a team for America rather than mortal enemies _ghting against each other with harsh party lines.

SBSO Arrests Couple On Various Narcotics Charges

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a man and woman on various narcotics charges following an investigation conducted by the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
