It’s a Good Thyme to Plant Some Herbs

With Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the carnival season right around the corner, that means plenty of good cooking and wonderful foods on the table as we entertain friends and family. Many holiday recipes call for herbs to be added. Fresh herbs tend to be more robust and flavorful than dried herbs, which lose some of their pungency over time. Fresh herbs are generally available year-round in bundles and plastic clamshell containers at local grocery stores year-round these days, but growing many herbs is very simple, and winter time is a great time to get an herb garden started.

Parish School District Shows Improvement in 2023 LDOE Evaluations

The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) released its 2023 evaluation of each parish school system and schools throughout the state of Louisiana on Monday, November 13. And though the St. Bernard Parish school district had a wide spread of scores (that were both high and low), the district was generally able to improve on its scores from last year.

Voters to Participate in Nov. 18 Election

On November 18 St. Bernard Parish voters will have the opportunity to participate in an election that features races for multiple state government positions, the parish presidency, the District D council seat, and votes on four constitutional amendments. On election day, the polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The state offices that have runoff races in the November 18 election are Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, and State Representative for the 103rd District.
