Hit & run investigation leads to drug bust

A hit-and-run incident on August 12 turned into a drug bust netting nearly $30,000 in cash and $16,000 worth of heroin when a motorist fled after hitting a light pole on St. Claude Avenue. Officers found a vehicle matching the description with severe front-end damage at the Chalmette home of Michael Adams, 40, and Britt Lavigne, 41. Adams and Lavinge were both booked Tuesday night with possession with intent to distribute 5.7 ounces of heroin worth $16,000 found in a search, with possession of 3.2 grams of synthetic marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
